Ronald Levy Katz – Rest In Peace
This
afternoon the ICC Banking Commission announced that Ron Katz, who led the
Banking Commission for many years and remained involved in the ICC work for
many years afterwards, died peacefully in Paris on 8 December after a long
illness.
It is true
that Ron Katz led the ICC Banking Commission, and he did it through many hard
periods – and with great skills. But where I will remember him the most –
professionally – is in his capacity as Editor for DCInsight – the Trade Finance
magazine published by the ICC.
I do not exaggerate
when I say that the books and articles I have written would not have been the
same without Ron Katz. He was by far the best editor I have ever worked with.
What I learned from his editions to my articles brings me value every day in my
work. I used to say – after having received an edited article by Ron Katz –
that I would have wished that I could have written it like that.
When I say
that it is as Editor for DCInsight I will remember Ron Katz the most – it is
not 100% true, because it was at the ICC Banking Commission meetings I met him
in person, and he was one of the kindest and warmest persons I have known.
I have
missed Ron Katz since he retired from the ICC Banking Commission – and I will
continue to do so. He will always be with me in my work – and in my heart.
Within the
Trade Finance world he is a true legend!
The ICC announces
that:
“The
funeral will take place on Wednesday 16 December at 11.30 at the Crématorium du
Père Lachaise - 8, bd de Ménilmontant 75020 Paris.
His family
has requested that no flowers be sent. If you would like, you may make a gift to
the Institute Gustave Roussy, where he was treated over the last two years:
