CMR - Copy for sender
  Question:

Name: Cristian Dobre

Will you please clarify to me the following issue:

An L/C called for among other docs CMR (Copy for sender).

The beneficiary presented original CMR but bearing no marking as to whom it was prepared (i.e. no mention of copy for sender).

Is it really a discrepancy? Can anyone argue that it is not copy for sender?

Answer (from Kim Christensen) On the basis that the document did not indicate that it was intended for a party or function other than for use by the shipper, the absence of an indication that the document was the one intended to serve as the “copy for sender” does not create a discrepancy.

  Answer (from Bogdan Ilie)

Re CMR-copy for sender, I think 2 different cases should be taken into consideration:

1.      LC asking for “CMR copy for sender”

2.      LC asking for “CMR marked copy for sender”

If under 1st scenario I agree with your point of view, under 2nd I think CMR should be marked
"copy for sender" or "sender's copy".

Best regards
Bogdan
