ISBP paragraph 43,e
  Question: Name: shahriar

If a bill of lading shows more than one on board notation is presented under a credit which requires drafts to be drawn... the earliest of these on board dates will be used for calculation of the maturity date.

Example: ..the bill of lading evidences on board vessel "A" from Dublin August 16 and on board vessel "B" from Rotterdam August 18. The draft should reflect 60 days from the earliest on board date in a European port, i.e., August 16.

Does this mean that shipment is effected by two vessels? If yes, then it must be a partial shipment, isn't it?

Thanks!

Shahriar

Answer (from Kim Christensen) ISBP 43,e merely sets a rule on how to determine shipment for the purpose of calculating the maturity date - in the situation where the bill of lading contains two on board notations - and both would comply to the LC (i.e.within the geographical area stipulated in the LC).

The fact that there are two vessels mentioned on the B/L does not mean that there is "partial shipment" - but it does mean that there is transhipment.

I hope this helps you.
