After one year of research at the Erasmus
University Rotterdam, Peter (born in 1960) started practicing law in
1986. He is particularly trained in international trade law.
Before founding
Kiveld International Lawyers, he was partner of a prominent maritime law firm
in Rotterdam. His practice has a strong international emphasis. He acts
for commodity traders, manufacturers, financial institutions for debt
recovery, franchise organizations, agents and distributors. Peter drafts
contracts and litigates in trade disputes, mainly in (international)
arbitration. In his capacity as member of the ICC Banking Commission, he
is involved in the drafting of new rules for letters of credit. Peter
has been active for the transport industry since 1990 and assists among
others P&I Clubs, ship owners, yards, mortgage banks and intermediaries
in this branch. He has special knowledge about carriage of dangerous
goods, refrigerated load, steel carriage by sea and ship arrest.
Peter has various publications on his name and is a regular speaker at
seminars in the Netherlands and abroad. He is listed as arbitrator in
ICC arbitrations and is an ICC expert on documentary credits.
